Saying Thank You

One of the biggest things our mother's taught us is to say thank you. Always say thank you. Call it the economy, call it the new constantly connected world, but has anyone else noticed that some folks are too cranky to say thank you? It is still good manners to thank your child's teacher and if teachers have taught us anything it is that they don't require a lot to still be inspired to do their jobs. I mean to say, feel free to keep it simple. Just do it. Teachers can go a long way on a little appreciation. They are some of the most important people in our lives, our children's lives and in our communities. It is the last week of school for some of us folks at Fresh Impressions. This is just one example of a thank you that was put together by one of us here at FI. The handwritten signature from this fifth grader and his stick drawing of one thing he remembers about his teachers, is pretty darn cute. And seriously people these soft sugar cookies are GOOD.
We love our teachers!!

It is also still considered good etiquette to send your wedding guests off with a small token of your appreciation for joining you on your special day. Maybe a giant heart shaped sugar cookie tied up with some pretty ribbon would work for that too?

Thank you to all our wonderful customers and friends!! Happy Coming Summer Folks!

Balloons In Engagement Photography

I tell you what, balloons are the thing these days! Save the date, engagement and wedding photos, family photos too. The choices in size and color options on balloons has skyrocketed. A big cluster of colorful balloons can add a lot to your photograph, especially if you are going for a silhouette or black and white photo. Something like this shot is great for leaving some "blank" space for your save the date text. When you are looking to print a magnet and don't want to crop a lot of your photo to make room for the text, a photo like this one works well because it isn't cropped in too closely on the main subject of your photo. Text on this photo would easily fit in any of the corners without taking away from the image. (above photograph used with permission by Danielle Gillett, thanks Danielle!)

We've been building up a Pinterest Balloon Fun Board and a Save The Date Ideas Board, come by and check them out!

Free. Yep, free samples

Have we mentioned that we offer free samples? Really, totally free, even shipping is free. We ship you an assortment of samples of our past work, for free, to the address you provide. There are a couple of reasons for this, one is that we like to show off our work and another is that we are really proud of the quality we offer. Free is so nice. :)

Busy Moms

Superheros are cool. Little superheros are the coolest. This little cutie's mom was up a good chunk of the night before her school superhero day, getting together this outfit. Have you all ever tried to sew a superhero cape having never done it before? It was an interesting and time consuming process. It seems like a phrase that is found in the job description of every mother is, "accomplish major feat with no prior instruction." Anyone else ever feel this way? We folks here at Fresh Impressions take our superhero stuff seriously though. The cape turned out great! Most importantly, the little superhero felt super.

We also take our sports pretty seriously too. Hey, what is important to our kids is important to us. Because there are only so many hours in the day, that means that some things have to be accomplished on the road. Like getting those soccer uniforms at least dry enough to put on. This technique, while not necessarily recommend, has, on more than one occasion, done the trick. And a little tip for you regarding this technique, just be sure the window is rolled up on the uniform so that you don't lose it all together. We may or may not have had experience with that one too. :)

Happy Mother's Day all you wonderful moms out there!
It's a tough job, but somebodys got to do it. All our best to you from Fresh Impressions!

Two words for you this week before Mother's Day...potty and training. Yeah. The only thing that might be harder in the life of a mother with young children, is getting those children to sleep through the night. Here is something that made this process easier, a Kindle Fire. Now this little beauty really helped when it came time to keep a three year old on the toilet long enough to do her thing. What made it work so well is that she does not otherwise ever get to play it, so here is a tip, if you are getting ready to potty train a little one, keep something like this for just the bathroom. We've come a long way since the days when parents used to have to sit in the bathroom for hours and hours waiting for their little one. Although that time is great time for reading books together and if you have the time to do that or can set aside the time, I highly recommend it. If you have other children running through the house and can't sit for hours and read books with your youngest child in the bathroom, then maybe this can help save some hair on your head and a little sanity too. Check out the list of app suggestions for for iphone, ipad or Kindle Fire. The Itsy Bitsy Spider app was a hit around here this week.

More to come before Mother's Day. We've been getting crafty here at Fresh Impressions so check back for Fresh and original photos!

Getting Ready For Mother's Day

For some of us folks at Fresh Impressions, our current perspective on motherhood is from the trenches. We are in the middle of rearing our sweet young things and from toddler hood to the early teen years, we've seen a lot of it. Makes us think of our own mothers and what it must have been like for them. Here is something that made us laugh and we hope it will for you too! More mother's day celebration posts to come!
